A Typical Day At Broadlands

Children arrive with their parent or carer ready for the start of the session. They spend an enjoyable hour or so playing with their friends and choosing the activities to play with;

  • splashing in the water tray
  • playing the sand
  • creating in the craft and painting area
  • building with the construction toys
  • creating scenarios with the small world activities
  • dressing up or sitting quietly in the book corner
  • looking at their own book or listening to an adult read a story.

Outside, on a dry day, there is the garden to investigate as well as more activities to play with. After tidy up time we have a small or large group activity followed by hand washing and a sociable snack. Outside again, the climbing frame is a safe place to climb, negotiate or view from. We have a variety of additional activities for the children to enjoy - bikes, scooters, push chairs, ball games, skipping.

Once back inside the children join in with singing songs and rhymes, sometimes we use the musical instruments or take part in circle and action songs. A story ends the session.

Our Ethos

At Broadlands, we work closely with parents to promote positive attitudes towards learning as well as to support opportunities for social, emotional and personal development. We provide a freely structured environment for learning through play and a range of stimulating activities to develop confidence and encourage cooperation. All children are valued equally at Broadlands.
